Are Alibi Snowboards Any Good

New Standard for records management, Moreq in question?

Two very important information last week (besides the beginning of the World Cup course !):
- the launch of the consultation on the modification of Moreq 2, the reference to the 800 requirements and 330 pages with 10 Moreq
- the positive vote by the ISO standards body for records management (TC46 SC11) common repository for the new management tools, records management, namely the new standard ISO 16175.
On analysis, Part 2, which corresponded roughly to Moreq 2, more simplified, n has not been accepted. That's what makes me say that we are entitled to wonder about the co-existence of Moreq and this new standard. In addition to Part 1 which shows the generality it is therefore the Part 3 of 78 pages (whew!) which was approved : "Guidelines and Functional Requirements for Records in Business Systems" to be presented in FDIS vote. It's still the most innovative! This functional description and presentation of model records management becomes the de facto international standard for applications and systems that will now be developed and deployed in organasations public or private. This is the relief for providers and system developers who are currently juggling between different repositories sometimes difficult compatible (EDRM include fast, dod, MoReq, etc..), if the standard is finally adopted.

The repositioning and clarification should be monitored by professionals with great acuteness and vigilance in the coming months!

NB: This new standard is the result of work of the International Council of Archives and has been a proposal to vote "fast track" with ISO in recent months.
